At Destrehan Animal Hospital, we understand that pets can face unexpected health issues that need attention right away. Our Urgent Care Hours provide quick, same-day care for non-life-threatening conditions during our urgent care hours: Monday through Friday, from 2 PM to 5 PM.

What We Treat in Urgent Care Hours:

  • Vomiting and diarrhea
  • Allergic reactions (including hives and swelling)
  • Minor injuries and wounds
  • Ear infections
  • Urinary issues (such as straining or frequent urination)
  • Limping or mild mobility concerns
  • Poison ingestion (within 1 hour)
  • Same-day illness concerns
  • Skin issues (itching, hot spots, rashes)
  • Upper respiratory infections (coughing, sneezing)

If a surgical procedure is needed for more serious conditions (such as foreign body removal, splenectomy, or pyometra), we may refer your pet to a specialist or schedule a procedure the next day. C-sections are also available Tuesday through Friday with Dr. Gautreaux.

Please Note: While we’re here to handle a variety of urgent needs, there are some cases we may not be equipped to treat in our urgent care services. For major trauma, serious surgical needs, overnight hospitalization, or repeated major seizures, we may recommend contacting an emergency veterinary hospital to ensure your pet receives the specialized care they need.
